This position is responsible for supervising the Athletic Training Program by preventing, diagnosing, treating and rehabilitating all injuries sustained by athletes who receive injuries while participating in various sports to ensure the program provides the proper care; and by staffing, scheduling and ordering supplies.
Responsibilities:
- Improves physical fitness of athletes for participation in various sports by prescribing routine and corrective exercises to strengthen muscles.
- Recommends special diets to build up health and reduce overweight conditions to ensure athletes are in good physical condition to participate in sports activities.
- Treats athletes to relieve soreness, sprains and bruises, thereby assisting the athlete to overcome minor injuries.
- Renders first aid, such as cleaning and bandaging wounds, applying hot and cold compresses to promote healing, calls for medical care for seriously injured athletes and assists when needed in aiding the injured.
- Takes preventive measures against potential injuries, maintains complete records of all injuries, recommendations, medications and treatments given to the athletes, while maintaining an acute awareness of the liability factors in the treatment processes given.
- Ensures each athlete receives an annual physical examination to monitor the physical condition of each player.
- Provides file information to the team physician periodically, so they may review and analyze athletic injuries.

- Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above.
- Ability to provide care to the population served.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient’s status and provide care as described in the department’s policies and procedures manual.
- Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.
Qualifications:
Required
- One year of related experience.
All of the following license(s)
- Current licensure to practice as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Utah.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association or obtain within one month of hire.
- Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association.
Qualifications (Preferred):
Preferred
- Three years of experience as an athletic trainer in a University setting.
- Athletic Training Clinical Fellowship preferred
- Clinical experience preferred
