This position performs professional accounting work and is responsible for the management of a set of accounts and assists in the preparation of financial statements and reports on University-wide accounting systems. This position exercises some judgment in maintaining accounting procedures and the preparation of statements and reports.
Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains departmental accounting procedures; makes recommendations on the implementation of accounting system revisions to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly and interim financial reports which includes preparation of journal entries, reconciliations of accounts, assisting in the preparation of financial statements for individual entities and consolidated enterprise reports.
- Ensures company accounting procedures conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Responsible for developing and implementing process improvement initiatives relating to accounting and financial reporting.
- Functions as an internal business partner to operations and provides assistance to managers, directors and other users of financial information.
- Assists with periodic reviews, year-end audits and compliance activities in support of external auditors and the internal finance operation.
- Special projects as requested.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of established accounting principles and practices; spreadsheet and database skills; analytical, problem solving, human relations and effective communication skills required.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance or related field.
- Two years of experience in Accounting or related area.
Qualifications (Preferred):
- Prefer someone with degree in business, accounting or finance.
